SACV Task Programme

All one-day tasks take place on Sundays: meet by the Malt Shovels pub, Stamford Street, Altrincham at 9.30 a.m. unless otherwise arranged. If you want to come on a task PLEASE CONTACT THE LEADER to say so, and to agree details (there may be a last-minute change). If you wish you can arrange with the leader to make your own way to a worksite and meet us there. Ordnance Survey grid references are given where possible.

Thursday 28^th January 2010	Pub night. The first pub night of 2010! We usually meet from around 8 p.m., but check with Peter first (07551 645534) on which pub has been chosen this time.
Sunday 14^th February 2010	Fallowfield Loop (SJ829936). We will be carrying out some clearing and coppicing on part of this walking and cycling route across south Manchester, which follows the path of a disused railway line and is part of the National Cycle Network. The path is a haven for wildlife, and our work today will aim to continue to enhance its biodiversity. Leader: Julian (07957 355468).
Sunday 28^th February 2010	Middlewood Way (SJ942826). This popular walking and riding route follows the line of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway, and on this task we'll be working with the Cheshire East Rangers to do some essential revetment work. Leader: Sandra (0161 928 3977 or 07973 410340).
Sunday 14^th March 2010	Reddish Vale Country Park (SJ901912). The Country Park contains a variety of habitats, including a heathland area important for wildlife, which we’ll be helping to maintain by working with the rangers to remove encroaching scrub. Leader: Peter (07551 645534).
Thursday 25^th March 2010	Pub night. It’s the last Thursday of an odd month, so time for a pub night. Sandra (0161 928 3977 or 07973 410340) will choose the venue so contact her to confirm where and when to meet. All welcome, whether you’re new to the group or an old-timer!
Sunday 28^th March 2010	Alderley Edge (SJ861779). This is the first of two tasks on this programme at this site, working for the National Trust. We’ll be doing some constructional work, helping to refurbish a long set of steps near Castle Rock. Leader: Gary (07768 278371).
Sunday 11^th April 2010	Lower Moss Wood (SJ782752). This picturesque site is an educational nature reserve and home to a wildlife hospital. At the time of going to press we don’t know what the task will be, so contact John to find out. Leader: John (0161 881 2135).
Sunday 25^th April 2010	Alderley Edge (SJ861779). On this task we’ll be continuing with the work begun in March, helping the National Trust to maintain a long set of steps. Leader: Dave (07729 989857).
Sunday 9^th May 2010	Walk. We haven’t had a walk on our programme for a while, so it seems time to take a break from hard work and enjoy the countryside! The location and distance of the walk will be decided by Rob (0161 928 1468 or 07795 836204) a few days before, but there’ll probably be a stop for a rest at a good pub! Contact Rob nearer the time for more details.
Friday 21^st to Sunday 23^rd May 2010	Residential weekend in Peak District National Park. This is the first of our two residential weekends in the year, when as usual we’ll be working for the Peak District Rangers on Saturday and Sunday and staying in Brunt’s Barn near Grindleford. There’ll be time to relax as well as to work, so all in all it ought to be a very enjoyable weekend in a lovely location! Contact Dave if you want more details. Leader: Dave (07729 989857).
